Financial Literacy Workshop

Financial Literacy is the possession of the set of skills and knowledge that allows an individual to make informed and effective decisions with all of their financial resources. To provide financial knowledge to our students and make them aware of basic financial skills, Financial Literacy workshop was conducted in which students were informed about savings, taxes, expenditures etc. Students took keen interest in learning & knowing the New Concept of Finance.

    Dictionary Drill

    Dictionary Drill was organized as part of Friday Activity for classes VI-VII. Students were given trick questions that tested their common knowledge as well as their skill to search words in dictionary. Such activities would also help students in enhancing their vocabulary. Instead of cramming and following rote learning method, students will learn new words and retain them for longer time. All students actively got engaged in it.

      Concept Race Competition

      Concept learning at SGS is built up by many ways, through activities and fun games. The students of class IV-V had  a Concept Race of Science on 31st August, 2018. The selected students which were finalized after the preliminary round took part in the final race. The half yearly syllabus was covered in the various levels of this race. The students from each club had to overcome this level by solving the answers . The races for the Class IV & V were held separately. The participants gave their best and the audience cheered for their respective clubs. The winners were-

        Workshop on Concentration and Relaxation

        Concentration is focus of the mind, and the ability to hold the awareness of your mind at one point without wavering Relaxation is to calm the mind & be mindful. These are essential for our students. For this the students of class II-III had a workshop on concentration & relaxation which was conducted by Ms Pooja & Ms Aarushi on 31st August, 2018. The students were shown a power point presentation, and the teachers explained the importance of relaxation and concentration in student’s life. The workshop was informative and enlightening for the students.

          English Debate Competition

          Participation in debate enables students to become  less narrow- minded and helps them to look all sides of an argument and provide scope & structure to their work and in practice to develop the art of public speaking and rhetoric

          Debate competition was organized as Friday activity where there students were selected to speak in favour, against and as interjector on the topic- social networking sites are sophisticated way of stalking people. Students had prepared very well as came up with variety of contents and ideas. Students kept their views in very orderly manner and gathered a good audience.

            Magic of Science

            “Innovation is change that unlock new value”. Students were given the platform to show their creativity and innovation in the field of science by making and displaying various working models of physics& chemistry. Students showed apprehensions of their theoretical knowledge and implemented it practically. Few models like galvanometer, manometer, motor boat, bike, water alarm, projector, mobile charger, bubble in bubble, lava lamp & invisible flames were the few projects that were exhibited by the students under the guidance of the teachers with this science exhibition, students developed their scientific thinking.

              Doha Gayaan

              Doha Gaayan Pratiyogita was organized on 24th August in last 2 periods for classes VI-VII. Various students were auditioned from all sections & the selected ones represented their respective clubs. During the competition, students sung dohas in harmony & then also told their meanings. With such activities, students get culturally inclined to their roots and also keep up with the age old sayings, which still matter a lot in today’s time. In this competition:

                Illustrate a famous book

                Illustrating is an activity when we decorate or display the written text with pictures . The students of class IV-V have been introduced with famous authors like Ruskin Bond and Roald Dahl and their famous books. On 24th August 2018, the students of classes IV-V illustrated famous books in their Friday activity period. The students of class V illustrated the famous book of Roald Dahl like Charlie and the Chocolate factory, The Enormous Crocodile, The Witches, etc. The students of class IV illustrated the famous book of ‘Tale of Peter Rabbit’ written by Beatrix Potter. The students worked in groups of three and illustrated the books using their creativity and imagination.

                  G.K Quiz

                  Knowledge gives power and wisdom. A person who has knowledge can lead others. Thus it becomes a requisite to sharpen the knowledge of young minds and quizzing can be good platform for it. The students of class II-III had an inter-club G.K Quiz Competition which was held on 24th  August 2018. From each class one student was selected from each club, after the preliminary round of worksheet . The competition consisted of various rounds- Buzzer Round. Rapid fire, Audivisual, etc. The genre included famous personalities, festivals and current affairs . The students performed with full enthusiasm & were excited for the challenging rounds.                     Kavita Gayan Competition

                    Patriotic poems foster in us a sense of belongingness to a particular nation, and fill our mind with patriotism. The students of class II-III had kavita Vaachan Competition on 10th August 2018.The theme of the competition was “Patriotism”. The students recited the poem earnestly and with intentness.The judge for class II were Ms Prabha and Ms Gunita and for class III it was Ms Bhavna. An air of patriotic fervor premeated the atmosphere. The poems recited were influential and motivated the others to feel proud of our nation. Results were

                      Independence Day patriotic group song competition

                      Independence Day is celebrated to commemorate the birth of a democracy. Several patriotic songs are sung during this time, to express the feeling of love for the country and people who defend it. On 10th August, the students of classes IV-V had an inter-club Patriotic Group Singing Competition. The participants sang enthusiastically. The synchronization of the melodious voices and instruments was heart-warning. The songs were sung with a great zeal and evoked the feeling of patriotism in all. The judges for the competition were Ms kavita and Ms Priyanka. The winners were as follows-

                        Kavita Vachan

                        An Interclub (Hindi) Poetry Recitation Competition was organized on 10th Aug, 2018 as Friday activity for classes IX & VIII. Beauty is the realm of poetry, children enjoy the beauty of expression, thoughts, feelings, rhyme, rhythm and music of words. Taking all these facts into consideration the children got an opportunity to exhibit their talent and confidence. The competition inspired the children to come forward and recite on stage.

                        The students came up   with different poems on the topic ‘Patriotism’ and recited them with great zeal and enthusiasm. The result of the competition is as follow

                          Nature's Silhouette

                          Students of class VI-VII, actively participated in this week’s Friday Activity. Silhouette means the outline or general shape of something. In last 2 periods student’s laid down their artistic skills on a sheet of paper. Each kid has his/her own wild imagination and plethora of ideas. The students let the horses of their imagination go loose and drew their own version of Nature’s Silhouette and the outcomes were very beautiful. Miss Priyanka Sharma guided them throughout the process.

                            English Debate Competition

                            Debate is an opportunity for the students to work on their several skills with the help of a single activity. Providing such opportunities to students at an early age, makes them more efficient & they become naturally good orators. The topic given to students was “Internet is more harmful then useful”. Students brainstormed perspectives & the whole session was very insightful for the classes VI & VII. The result of the competition is as follows:

                              Talent Hunt

                              Talent Hunt

                              Talent Hunt is an event, which gives platform to students to represent their talents in any field. It not only helps the participants students to show their abilities but also motivates other students to come up front and show their hidden potential.

                              ‘Talent Hunt activity was conducted on this Friday to make students come up with their hidden talents in the field of music art, dance, poem, painting, acting, spell bee and calligraphy.

                              Participating students performed so well and left the judges & the audience spell bound with their potential & ability by performing.

                                Kite flying Activity & Mehendi Activity

                                On 3rd August 2018, the students of class IV-V had delightful activities lined up for them. The boys of class IV-V had kite flying activity. The students enjoyed fully going outside in the lawn, tying thread in the kite and flying it with the help of sports department and teachers. The student’s excitement and joy was evident on their faces. The girl had mehendi activity in the A.V room where they made beautiful mehendi designs provided by the teachers. The students were given mehendi cones and they showed their creativity with their intricate designs. The enthusiasm and zest of the students made the activity successful.

                                  Friendship Bands/Bookmark Activity

                                  This friendship day the students of class II-III were encouraged to make books as their friends, because if books are our best friends we can never feel alone. To celebrate this bond of friendship the students made pretentiously artistic book marks on 3rd August 2018 in their Friday activity periods. The students were shown samples of bookmark by the teachers. They created their bookmarks by using ice-cream sticks and other decorations. The students promised to make books as their friends.
