Tennis Sports Activity

Games and sports are an integral part of a student’s life. It encompasses more than just benefit of physical activity. It increases self-esteem and mental alertness & builds sportsmanship. A lawn-tennis sports activity was conducted  for classes II-III on 30th November’18. The selected students from the prelims had a match among themselves. In lawn tennis, the students focused well and were agile while playing. The audience too cheered and supported the players.

    How to make a Kaleidoscope with CD

    Like a microscope or telescope, the optics in a kaleidoscope are used to enhance our vision in some way. Kaleidoscopes use mirrors to reflect light into beautiful shapes and patterns. The students of class IV-V had a kaleidoscope Making Activity on 30th Nov’18, in their Friday Activity period. The teachers first demonstrated how to make Kaleidoscope using CD’s. The students in the classes followed the instructions and made their own Kaleidoscope in their respective groups. The students had lots of fun and also learnt how mirrors work too.

      Basket ball Match(Girls)/ Tennis Match (Boys)

      “Success is where preparation and opportunity meet”

      Basketball Match (Girls) and Tennis Match (Boys) was organized as Friday Activity of classes VI-VII. Students participants were filled with Zeal and vivacity. In first Match which took place between Achievers & Champions,  Champions  won. In Second  Match between Leaders & Victors, Leaders won. Then Leaders & Champions faced each other for acquiring First rank. The fourth & final match was to determine third rank,which was between Victors & Achievers. After all the Matches, the results are as follow:-

        Career Workshop

        To provide our students of VIII & IX with various career options and streams a workshop was conducted by Extramarks. The expert counselors counseled the students and informed them about various streams, career options, universities and the courses available as per students expertise and interest. Students got a wide range of information regarding what they should pursue in future.

          Ms Paint Competition

          MS Paint competition was held for classes II-III on 24th November’18 in the computer lab. The students had to create beautiful scenes in the computer using MS Paint program. The selected students used the various design formats and created impressive artwork in computers. The judges of the competition were Ms Mansha & Ms Sonam. The judges appreciated the efforts of the students. The winners of the competition were-

            Hindi Vaad Vivaad pratiyogita

            An inter-club Hindi Vaad Vivaad pratiyogita took place for students of class IV-V on 24th Nov’18.The selected students who were chosen after the pre-liminary round participated in the main competition. The topics for the debate were-Homework, Discipline and Sports Essential for students or not. The students spoke well for both for and against motion of the assigned topic. They cited apt and useful examples & evidence to support their opinions. The judges of the competiton were Ms Rekha(HOD Hindi) and Ms Bhawna who appreciated the efforts of students.               Design a Comic Strip

              To inculcate the creative writing in students, this Friday activity was planned with designing a comic strip for which the topics were already allotted to the students. They had to design the stripes based on the topic they had chosen in form of the comics. Students actively participated in this class-room activity and showcased their reading writing and creative skill. Best posters of this activity were selected and displayed in the class rooms.

                Language & Literature Quiz

                “Only the very weak-minded refuse to be influenced by literature and poetry”

                Education & competitions are closely related as they help in  personal, intellectual & emotional growth of students. Language & Literature quiz was organized for classes VI-VII in which the questions were mostly based around Shakespeare & Charles Dickens. Students enthusiastically participated and prepared for the quiz. In first selection round conducted 2 weeks before the quiz, students were shortlisted from each sections & round further the students were narrowed down to 4 from each club. On the 24th Nov students displayed their dexterity by answering  the questions  & Achievers secured Ist  rank, followed by Leaders who came IInd  & Victors came IIIrd.

                  Appropriate Ways of Talking

                  Talking and eloquence are not the same to speak, and to speak well, are two things”, said the renowned English writer Ben Jonson. Even though we learn to talk at a young age, but there is always scope for us to improve our communication skill and the way we speak. With this outlook, a workshop on Appropriate Ways of talking was conducted for class II-III on 16th November, 2018. The workshop conducted  by MS Shivani & Ms Japneet focused on the art of communication, our tones, levels of confidence, command of language and the intonation. The basics of spoken language, when we should speak language when we should speak how we should address others and the appropriate ways of talking were discussed with the help of power point presentation.

                    Debating Workshop

                    Debate is a great device for engaging students and helps students understand essential critical-thinking and presentation skills. It is important for students to form opinions,based on the facts given, to make a good analysis. A debate workshop for class IV-V took place in the Friday Activity period. The students were told about the benefits and purpose of debate. The things to keep in mind and how we can be expressive & effective while giving our opinion was discussed. The workshop was like a building block for the students & it would surely be beneficial for the students.

                      Basketball Match(Boys)/Tennis Match (Girls)

                      After the selection procedure 4 club teams were selected for the Basketball Match. All the students of class VI-VII were part of the spectators & enjoyed the afternoon. The participants of all clubs showed great enthusiasm & ardency in their performances. In first round Victors won over Achievers & leaders won over Champions. In final round Victors defeated Leaders and came 1st & Leaders settled for 2nd position. Champions secured 3rd position. The Tennis Match (girls) also progressed simultaneously in which Achievers secured 1st position, Champions came II & Leaders came 3rd

                        SGS Singing Idol

                        Singing Idol

                        Sometimes music is the only thing that gets your mind off of everything else. Singing Idol competition was organized for class VIII & IX in which students presented songs in their melodious sweet voices and mesmerized audience and judges. Students showed their singing skills by singing different traditional songs in different rhythm & style.

                          Potter's wheel

                          Pottery is an activity which induces creativity relaxation and serves therapeutic purpose for all. So this activity was organized for classes 6th to 7th to cater to their imagination and provide them some relaxation. Students really enjoyed making different things and different shapes from clay. The resource person taught kids how to work on the wheel, students really enjoyed it and some of them were successful in making extraordinary shapes like pots and peacock etc.

                            Chandelier making

                            Chandeliers are large decorative hanging lights with branches for several light bulbs or candles. The students of class II-III had chandelier making activity on 2nd Nov 2018. The enthusiastic students used Old CD’s decorative materials to create their own chandeliers. The excitement of Diwali doubled as the students made decorations of Diwali in the form of chandeliers.

                              Poem Writing

                              Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings and it takes its origin from emotions recollected in tranquility-William Wordsworth

                              To teach the art of Poem Writing, Poem Writing workshop was conducted for class VIII students. Students were told about various ways of writing a poem by giving simple tips to be kept in mind. They were also told how one can become creature and innovative in Poetry Writing skills. Students were given preface of some poets about how they started writing the poems and techniques/creativity that can be applied. At end of the session, students were made to write a poem on their choicest topic.

                                Poster making on not to burn crackers activity

                                Diwali is the festivals of lights, but bursting excessive crackers during Diwali has lots of harmful effects on the environment. On 2nd Nov, 2018 the students of class IV-V had poster making activity on the topic Say No to Crackers. The students had this activity to create awareness among them and the others to not burst crackers. The students made colorful and apt posters on the given theme. These were later displayed in the classes.
